Acapulco, La Union: Sunsets and People

I love sunsets. Although sunsets symbolize the end of the day, the sun at different points cast colours and shadows to the skies and the scenery. As a result an enigmatic cascade of colours burst. This is what I was able to witness at Acapulco Beach, La Union.
During sunsets, I realize that there is a beauty that only God can create. Put in the people I was with, all the more my heart bursts with gratitude. Indeed, we should always be thankful for the blessings that come our way.
I’m sharing the pictures I’ve taken hoping that it will inspire more to see the beauty in life even in the simplest things. Each picture spells a story more than it appeals to the eyes.

Bacnotan, La Union Surprises: Riverfarm Pleasures

And here goes the Label

If you are looking for a place for fine dining, then, you better be at this place... Riverfarm! It’s the place where sea foods are the main course for the meal.
Our sumptuous dinner that night included “Sinigang” with the right kind of “asim” that a Filipino dish of that sort has. Add the crabs and the shrimp as ingredients, what else can you ask for?
Sweet and sour dishes are my favourite and this time, I chose their fish fillet. I love fish fillet compared to the meat variant for they are healthier and easy to eat. As if I’m diet conscious now (lol)! But anyway, the fish fillet tasted like pure heaven!
We were completely satisfied with the dishes we ordered. They were truly and proudly Filipino!
The ambience was one of the best. Located almost under a bridge with a spectacular view of a few nipa huts and the lake, I couldn’t feel more blessed than anything or anyone else at this moment. The simplest pleasures in life can make me happy – including food (lol)!

Aringay, La Union: The Road to Jireh

Jireh as I was told means God provides everything. This was what I learned while talking to the desk clerk at the information booth that day. And true enough, God provides everything as the Christian owners knew ever since they built the resort. But let me remind you that the road to Jireh is not at all that smooth and sailing. You have to go inside farm lands and make twists and turns through trees, mud and grasses. Often times, you go through herds of goats, carabaos, hens and other farm animals. But you can also go through people who stand by at their lots and herds and would be more than willing to tell you where Jireh is while greeting you with welcoming smiles. This is the road to Jireh - the road where God provides everything. Sometimes it’s hidden but at the end of the road is a paradise. Thus, as the Jireh caption says, “Hidden Paradise”. Paradise is beauty that awes and feels good to the senses – a relaxing mode where you can swim and lounge at their “kubo”. Eating is a feast just give them time for the delivery of food for as I say, the road to Jireh is one full of a bumpy ride. For those seeking Jireh, here are photos that make up for relaxation and comfort in Aringay, La Union.

Sabangan, Ilocos Sur: Slippers in the Sand

The Clouds were all but fair tonight. It did rain a little bit but the rain had stopped. Although the moon was up, the stars were not out tonight. They say that because of the absence of the stars, tomorrow there may be rain again.

I look at the sand below my feet. It was almost near white and near soft but yet coarser than Boracay’s. I look into this place which they say is mini-Boracay in the vast landscape of Ilocos Sur. Tita Adel happened to welcome us into their humble abode and with much hospitality and warm heart. I asked Jen and Princess to walk with me. For there is nothing much more fine than to walk along the beach at night and share stories with friends that makes the skin glow as touched by the moon’s lightly lit sky. I removed my slippers from my dainty feet and walked in the sand with much awe and gratefulness for everything.

Sabangan, Ilocos Sur is a place where you can have that seclusion away from the calling of the city that I know. Listening to the gentle waves that I may not have found in La Union, I found serenity especially at this hour of a starless night. There are a few flickering lights out there but it never would elude you. The cottages are simple yet commercialism has not bounded in. Twiddle your sight for there are a few fishermen casting their nets. To them, the sea is their lives.

This is serenity, this is peace and this is the simple life. I watch my slippers in the sand. For this starless night, I am who I am... a carefree spirit... more like a child’s. Slippers in the sand, let it be left even if the waves may push you. I will still find you in the gentle waves.

Of Friendships, Stories and Gastronomic Adventures

I cannot tell you how everything started for there is not much to tell but to say that we've at one point during our lifetimes in high school became friends. From then on, there are so much fun stories to share, places we went and gastronomic adventures we've had. I cannot tell more about our age, for we are not the youth we were once were. But we continue to come together and enjoy the beauty of life. Even though some have their own families while some choose to be satisfied with what they have and some wish for their own fairy tales to come true, we still mix to celebrate the friendships we have. Through the years, we will always be sisters and will always stand beside each other. Let me not tell more, let the pictures of CJ's wedding, pre-wedding and after wedding tell you how much our friendships have kept us youthful at heart.
